ACCIDENT KILLS MINISTER, TWO KIDS Miami family en route to holiday celebration; wife in Wichita hospital MIAMI, OKLA.-A Miami minister and his two children, who were traveling to Liberal, Kan., to celebrate Thanksgiving with relatives, are dead after a vehicle accident near Kingman, Kan. The Rev. J. L. Jones, 42, and his son, Jaden Jones, 11 were killed Tuesday night when their sport utility vehicle collided with a pickup truck on U. S. Highway 54, east of Kingman, according to Kansas Highway Patrol reports. The minister's daughter, Janessa Jones, 14, died Wednesday at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kan., of injuries she suffered in the crash. Jones' wife, Lora, 40, remains at teh Wichita hospital with several broken ribs. The state patrol said the accident happened about 8:58 p.m. Brit D. Alley, 51, of Wichita, lost control of his eastbound truck on the wet, slick road. The pickup crossed the center line and collided head-on with the westbound Jones vehicle, the patrol said. Alley was taken to Kingman Community Hospital. Jones had been the pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, a 100-member congregation, for the past five years.
