Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Maxine KING, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles King of Portis to Mr. Richard MANCHESTER of Liberal, the wedding having taken place at ten-thirty o'clock Sunday morning, April 25, at the home of the bride's parents. The ceremony was performed by Reverend Munford, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church at Portis. Before the ceremony Miss Winifred Lovett, accompanied by Miss Marjorie Lovett, sang, "I Love You Truly." The Lohengrin Wedding March was played by Miss Marjorie Lovett for the entrance of the bridal couple. The bride's gown was of blue sheer with white organdy trim and she carried a bouquet of white flowers. A wedding dinner was served to a large number of guests, the wedding cake being decorated with love birds and a bride and groom. Mrs. Manchester graduated from the Portis high school and has taught in the schools of Smith county in this state for the past two years. Mr. Manchester, who is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Manchester of Bellaire, graduated from the Smith Center high school and took a business course in Topeka. He came here a few months a go as bookkeeper for the Cottrell Motor company. Mr. and Mrs. Manchester arrived last night from Portis and are making their home at the Foote apartments at 120 South Grant avenue.
