King (1905) CHARLES E. JEWELL. CHARLES E. JEWELL, one of Topeka's successful business men and a member of one of the pioneer families in Kansas, was born in 1854 in Ohio, and is a son of the late Charles W. and Susan A. (Hendrie) Jewell. Charles E. Jewell was educated in the public schools at Topeka and at Washburn College. For seven years he was connected with the banking business, but when the Topeka State Bank sold out in 1887, he entered into the loan brokerage business. He has always been active in the Republican party, and is treasurer of the Shawnee County Republican Central Committee. Mr. Jewell married a lady by the name of L. M. Meek, who is a native of Indiana. He enjoys fraternal relationship with the Order of Elks.
