Course in Automobiles Added to University Curriculum.
Los Angeles, Oct. 2. - What is believed to be the first university course in 
automobiles, their history, opinion and repairs and in good roads and allied 
subjects,  has been added to the curriculum of the University of Southern 
California.  Seventy-three young men of whom three are Japanese and 
twenty-eight young women have matriculated for the course which will consist 
of sixteen lectures.
Professor Stanley W. Smith, who occupies the chair in the new course, giving 
his first lecture yesterday, quoted the Biblical prophet who said, "But the 
chariots shall be with fiery torches; they shall run by the lightings," to 
show that the coming of the automobile had been foretold.
