Mrs. George Brown Victim of Automobile Accident. Tragedy Occurs Near St. Marys When Family Was Returning From Visit to Cemetery at Louisville. A spot light on the automobile of an unknown driver is blamed for an accident that caused the death of Mrs. George BROWN, 1020 North Van Buren street, and the serious injury of Mrs. Cleo DAVIS, who recently moved to North Topeka from Lucas, Kan., shortly after 9 o'clock last night. The accident happened on the Golden Belt road a mile east of St. Marys. Mr. and Mrs. Brown were returning from Louisville. They had visited the cemetery where Mr. Brown's mother is buried. Mr. and Mrs. Davis, who have been visiting at the home of Mr. Brown's brother, James Brown, and a child of Mr. and Mrs. Brown, were in the car with them. The car was being driven at a moderate of speed. Someone in a passing automobile suddenly threw a spot light into Mr. Brown's face. The light was strong enough to temporarily blind him. The car veered to the side of the road and ran into a bank. It turned over and Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Davis were pinned beneath. Mrs. Brown died almost instantly. Her neck was broken. Conwell's ambulance was called and Mrs. Davis taken to St. Marys. The extent of her injuries could not be determined at an early hour this morning. She was in a semi-conscious condition. The two male members of the party and the child escaped with a few bruises. Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband and five children, all of whom reside in Topeka. Mr. Brown is a Rock Island switchman. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/shawnee/obits/b/brown196ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ksfiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
