BROWN, 56, Bartlesville, Okla., died today in a Topeka hospital. Born Sept. 15, 1918, in Topeka, he was graduated from Topeka High School and was employed at Christ Hospital until entering the Kansas National Guard's 35th Division in 1940. He was graduated form Officers' Candidate school in 1942. He served in the European theater during World War II and later in the Korean war. He retired from active duty Nov. 30, 1960, with the rank of major. In 1961, he went to Korea with the Joint U.S. Military Assistance Group as a civilian employe [sic] of the Navy. He retired in July 1974 because of ill health. In June 1974 he was presented the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association National Association of Uniformed Services, and First Christian Church of Topeka. He married Joye SNYDER on May 1, 1941, in Topeka. She survives at the home. Other survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Laura KNOWLES and Mrs. Georgia DERRYBERRY, both of Bartlesville, Mrs. Marguerite FLEETWOOD, 3805 W. 18th and Helen BROWN, 1215B Glendale Drive. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mount Hope Abbey. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3003 Van Buren.
