Joe CARTER, 46, died Tuesday in a local hospital. His home was at 900 North Western. Mr. Carter was born at Newelton, La., and had lived in Topeka two years. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Vashite Carter of the home; five stepdaughters, Mrs. Rosa Lee COS of Vallejo, Calif., Mrs. Ellen ELLIS of Topeka, Miss Eliza B. MADISON, of Los Angeles, Miss Queen Esther GRIMES of Topeka; Miss Virglee GRIMES fo Topeka; two stepsons, Theodore Grimes of St. Louis, and Cleothas Grimes of the United States Navy, and a sister, Mrs. Mary SEALS, of Cleveland.
