Catherine J. Casey.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Chapel for Mrs. Catherine
J. CASEY, 55, 3210 W. 17th, who died in a Topeka hospital Monday afer an
extended illness. Entombment will be in Mount Hope Abbey.
Mrs. Casey, wife of Topeka attorney Marlin S. Casey, was born July 1, 1910, at
Abilene. She was a graduate of Abilene schools, Ferry Hall at Lake Forest, Ill.,
and Wellesley College. She had been active in volunteer service since coming to
Topeka in 1935.
She worked at the Provident Assn. and during the war for the Red Cross, USO and
Civil Defense. She had served on the boards of the Mulvane Art Center and the
Junior League.
She was president of the Junior League from 1946-47. Mrs. Casey helped raise
funds for the Mental Hygiene Society, the Cancer Society, Council of Social
Agencies, St. Francis Hospital, Community Chest, Heart Fund and the Public Golf
Course. 
Mrs. Casey served as manager of the Stormont-Vail Hospitality Shop and also was
president of the hospital auxiliary. She was a member of the First
Congregational Church.
Survivors include her husband, Marlin S. Casey; one daughter, Connie, of the
home; a son, Edward, Chicago; a stepdaughter, Carolyn BENJAMIN, Fairfield,
Calif.; her mother, Mrs. J.E. JOHNTZ, Abilene, a brother, John H. JOHNTZ,
Wichita and two nephews.
The family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
