Mrs. Martha Caldwell.

Mrs. Martha "Mattie" CALDWELL, 80, of Carbondale, and widow of the late D.D.
CALDWELL, died Monday in a Topeka hospital. She was born May 6, 1870, in Platte
County, Missouri, and made her home in the Elmont community before moving to
Carbondale in 1922. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
She is survived by four daughters, MRs. Gladys BAINE, Lyndon, Mrs. Marguerite
REDENBAUGH, Lyndon, Mrs. Hazel MARTIN, Carbondale, and Miss Beulah CALDWELL,
Topeka; a son, John CALDWELL, Norwood, Mo.; two brothers, Chris MARTIN,
Englewood, Calif., and Cleve MARTIN, Meriden; two sisters, Miss Lolly MARTIN,
Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Ell ESKRIDGE, Ventura, Calif.; 18 grandchildren and
nine great-grand children.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Eslinger Funeral Home with
interment in Prairie Home Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the mortuary
until the funeral hour.
