William M. Davies Started in Business in Atchison in 1857. Atchison, Jan. 20.--(Special)--William M. DAVIES, 84, the only surviving business man who was her in 1857, died at his home today. He was born in Wales and came to America at the age of 17. He was the last charter member of the local Presbyterian church and was the first superintendent of its Sunday school, holding that post twenty years. He was proprietor of a clothing store here sixty-three years, starting in 1857. He has been its active head until ten months ago, when he became to feeble to leave his home, and turned the management over to his son. His wife died seven years ago. Nine children survive.
