Gilchrist. Walter C. GILCHRIST, 49, salesman for John Morrell and Company, died late Saturday night in a local hospital. He was born November 26, 1889, in Meriden and had been a resident of Topeka since a small child. GILCHRIST began working for Charles Wolff Packing Company eighteen years ago and before that was an employe in the Fred Harvey System. He served in the Thirty-Fifth Division during the World War. He was a member of the Topeka Lodge No. 17, A.F. & A.M. Topeka Commandry No. 5, Topeka Consistory No. 1, Arab Shrine, Topeka Chapter No. 462, O.E.S., of which he was past patron, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Matilda GILCHRIST; two daughters, Janet and Mary Ann GILCHRIST; one son, Walter Jr., all of the home; his father, W.A. GILCHRIST; one sister, Mrs. Jessie CORBET, one niece, Sarah Jane CORBET, all of Topeka. Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary.
