September 30, 1940

John William Holliday.

John William Holliday, 72, retired Santa Fe employe, died Sunday night at his
home, 842 North Quincy Street. He was born February 15, 1868, in Rymney, Wales,
and had been a resident of Topeka for the past sixty-four years, coming here
from Rome, N.Y. HOLLIDAY worked in the coach department of the Santa Fe for
thirty-nine years.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edith McDONALD, Clinton, Iowa, and Mrs. Louis
SHORTHILL, Topeka; one son, John H. HOLLIDAY, Topeka; one sister, Mrs. George
KNOLL, also Topeka; one brother, David HOLLIDAY, Seattle, Wash., and six
grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 o'clock at Peebler's Funeral Home with interment
in Topeka Cemetery.
