Topekan Learns of Death Of Her Son In Korea War.

Pfc. Samuel J. JEFFERSON, 18, of Topeka was killed in action March 4 in Korea,
according to a message received Thursday by his mother, Mrs. Flossie THOMAS,
1422 Chandler. She previously had received word from the Department of Defense
that he was missing in action.
Private Jefferson, a native Topekan, joined the Army last June. He received his
basic training at Fort Riley and had been overseas since October.
Besides his mother, he is survived by six half-brothers, Richard Augustus,
Albert Thomas, and Harold Mays, all of Topeka; Willford Brown, Lawrence, and
Lloyd Glover, Omaha, Neb.; two half-sisters, Mrs. Orvetta CUSHINBERRY, and Miss
Alflean THOMAS, both of Topeka; two uncles, f.L. and James Jefferson both of
Topeka, eight neices and nine nephews.
