Well-Known G.A.R. Men Honor the Late Capt. Norton--Funeral at Blue Rapids. Capt. Martin NORTON, of Blue Rapids, Kan., died Friday at 1521 Tyler street, where he was visiting his son, J.O. NORTON. His body was taken to Blue Rapids, Kan., yesterday noon. It was accompanied to the Union Pacific depot by officers of the department of the G.A.R. and members of Lincoln post. Department officers present were Gen. G.M. BRASSFIELD and past Department Commander P.H. CONEY. Lincoln post officers were Post Commander H.S. HACCOCK, F.M. KIMBALL, O.M., and Past Post Commander, J.E. PENNOCK. Captain NORTON was born at Joliet, Ill., June 8, 1834. He came to Kansas in 1880 and settled in Nortonville. He was elected department commander of Kansas in 1901 at Junction City, defeating A.W. SMITH. During the Civil war Mr. NORTON served with the One Hundreth Illinois infantry, and received his discharge in 1869.
