Dr. J.C. Shaw Is Dead at 91.
Dr. J.C. SHAW, 91, a physician in this area more than 33 years and father of
Warren Shaw of Topeka, Republican nominee for governor in 1956, died Saturday in
a Topeka hospital.
Dr. Shaw who moved to Kansas as a small boy graduated from the Kansas University
Medical School in 1900 and practiced medicine at Holton until 1919, when he
moved to Topeka. He retired in 1933.
He was born in Westmoreland County, Pa., Oct. 23, 1869, and was a veteran of
World War I.
Survivors other than his son include his widow, Mrs. J.C. Shaw, 1229 Plass; four
other sons, Dr. Robert W. Shaw of Long Beach, Calif., John M. Shaw of Denver,
Harold M. Shaw of Fort Bragg, Calif., and Malcolm M. Shaw of LaMesa, Calif.; a
daughter, Mrs. R.D. Schofer of Moline, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
