Veteran, Merchant Dies.
John B. Silliman of Atchison, Was 73 Years Old.
Atchison.--Oct. 7.--John B. SILLIMAN, wholesale hardware dealer of national
reputation died at his home here, yesterday, aged 73 years. He came to Atchison
in 1870 and bought a retail hardware business which he converted into a jobbing
business by interesting his brothers-in-law, D.P. BLISH and E.A. MIZE, both now
deceased, and establishing the firem of Blish, Mize & Silliman. He was vice
president, a member of the executive committee of the National Hardware Dealer's
association and was widely known by the hardware trade.
