Hiram F. Smith.

Hiram F. SMITH, 80, former Topekan, died Thursday night in St. Joseph, Mo. He
was born March 13, 1871 in Seymour, Iowa, and came to Topeka when a small boy.
He made his home in this city until he moved to St. Joseph, Mo., 18 years ago.
He was a lineman for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., for 27 years. He was a
member of the Waterloo, Iowa, Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite bodies of Topeka
and the Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah E. SMITH of St. Joseph; a daughter, Mrs.
Raymond NEWMAN, Topeka; two sons, Clarence Smith, Topeka, and Albert Smith, San
Diego, Calif.; a brother, Robert Smith, Caldwell, Kan.; a sister, Mrs. Carrie
SHERWOOD, Topeka; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The body will be
brought to Topeka for interment Monday.
