Alpha Elmer SUTTON, 82, 1142 Randolph, died Monday in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 27, 1882 at Dunkirk, Ohio. He had lived in Topeka most of his adult life. He was a retired electrician and a veteran of World War I. He served overseas 13 months with the 40th Signal Batallion of the 35th Division. He was a member of the Grace Cathedral Church, Topeka Lodge No. 17 AF and AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, York Rite and American Legion Capital Post No. 1. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 50 years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Grace Harner Sutton, of the home; one brother, Bert Sutton Sr., Bartlesville, Okla.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Cathedral. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Sutton will lie at Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary from 4 p.m. Tuesday until 9 a.m Wednesday.
