George Whitford THURBER, 87, formerly of 1731 Stone, died Wednesday night in a Topeka convalescent home where he had lived the past 15 years. Born Sept. 10, 1880, in Twin Mounds, Mr. Thurber had farmed in that area several years before he moved to Lawrence. He moved to Topeka in 1944. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Elinor O'LAUGHLIN,Belmont, Calif., Mrs. Velma KELLY, San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Lois RISSMAN, Lawrence, and Mrs. Dorothy YOUNG, 1801 W. 33rd; two sons, Glen Thurber, 1731 Stone, and Hugh Thurber, 101 Cecil Road; a brother, Roy Thurber, Twin Mounds, and 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Parker Mortuary.
