Vernon, Fleming Co. Founder Is Dead. W.F. VERNON, 72, one of the founders of the Fleming Company here, and for 30 years associated with the firm, died at his home in Shawnee, Okla., just before noon Tuesday. Mr. Vernon who was well known in grocery circles thruout Kansas, retired from active business duties seven years ago. Two of his sons, C. A. Vernon and I.J. Vernon, are presently associated with the Fleming Company. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Topeka and a former president of the Men's Fellowship Center. He had been in failing health for several years, and for the past month had been seriously ill. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Sara Fleming of Shawnee; two daughters, mrs. R.W. STOTZ of Shawnee, Okla., and Mrs. C.W. SHEPPART of Des Moines, Iowa; and five sons, E.M. of San Francisco, W.F. Vernon Jr., of Nashville, Tenn., C.C. of Chicago and C.A. and I.J. Vernon of Topeka.
