'Jim' VAN NOY, 47, Topeka, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 1988, at a Topeka hospital. He had cancer. Mr. VAN NOY served 20 years in the Air Force before he retired in December 1979. His duty stations included West Germany, Vietnam, Texas, Missouri and Forbes Air Force Base south of Topeka. he retired at the rank of technical sergeant. He later worked in the housekeeping department at Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center and in the maintenance department of both Gage Bowl North. He was born June 25, 1941, at Seattle, the son of James Virgil and Jacequelyn Mercedes BONNEY VAN NOY. He was raised in Seattle by his grandmother, Mabel BERGULAND. He lived in Topeka since 1980. Mr. VAN NOY was a member of Ray C. Roberts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 969 in Tacoma, Wash. He was married to Beverly WARD Jan. 7, 1964, in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Georgia Lynn WEBER, Salina, Karla VAN NOY and Lori EDWARDS, both of Topeka, and Elizabeth ANDERSON, Phoenix, Ariz.; four sons, Ronald DENNO, Shawnee, and Michael DENNO, Mark VAN NOY and Steven VAN NOY, all of Topeka; his father, James V. VAN NOY, Kent, Wash.; 32 foster children; two sisters, Candee HENDERSON, Portland, Ore, and Penny RICE, San Diego; two brothers, Craig VAN NOY, Vancouver, Wash., and Clifford HURD, Portland, Ore.; a grandmother Mabel BERGULAND, Seattle; and eight grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
