The Colby Tribune, Thomas County, Thursday, March 19, 1891 March 19, 1891
Tuesday, March 17th, 1891 marked the 71st birthday of Willis SUMMERS, one of
Wendell townships homesteaders. The children and neighbors planned a pleasant
surprise for the father and friend. The children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren, presented him with a fine rocking chair, foot stool and
pair of slippers. His three son, James, William and Willis and daughter Nancy
were present and caused their father to pass a happy birthday. A bountiful suppy
of eatables being brought in, the party partook of a pleasant repast, after
which they retired to their respective homes.
