OBITUARY---Robert Benda Robert Benda was born March 16, 2892, near Shelby, Neb., and passed away in his near Achilles, Oct. 17, 1938, at the age of 47 years, 7 months and 1 day. He was the sixth child of John and Anna Benda, who have preceded him in death. At the age of 14 years, the family moved to a farm near Halford. At the age of 27 he was united in marriage to Hazel Hurst, of Oberlin. They remained on the home place a year, then moved to a farm near Achilles where he remained until his sudden death. Bob, as he was known by everyone who knew him, was a devoted husband and father. He was a true believer in God and lived an earnest Christian life. He was converted Oct. 20, 1917, joined the Methodist church, March 21, 1918. In September 1936 he transferred his letter into the Swedish Mission church of which he held the office of deacon at the time of his death. He was always willing to help his neighbors in any way, and will be sorely missed not only in the family circle, but by all his neighbors and friends. There remain to morn [sic.] his departure, his devoted wife, four children: Wesley Gale, John Robert, Esther Verlene and Ida Marie; one brother, Oscar, of Halford; and seven sisters, Anna Neal, of Dolores, Colo.; Rlla Parrott, of Flagler, Colo.; Minnie Howard, of Brighton, Colo.; Theresia Kleeman, of Elbert, Colo,; Marie Anderson of Halford; Sophia McKinney and Rose Ryan of Colby; besides many other relatives and friends.
