The Colby Free Press, Thomas County, Thursday, March 12, 1914
George LATIMER, died March 7th, aged 81 years, 8 months and 7 days. He was a
grand and loyal old soldier, he joined the army March 6th, 1862, Co. J. 2nd
M.S.M. Cav. and was mustered out on account of his heart and back which unfit
hime for service, October 8, 1864. He was born near Nashville, Tennessee, he
joined the G.A.R. Post April 11, 1884 then after moving to Kansas he joined
Kimball Post 484 at this place, Nov. 12, 1892. He leaves a wife and eleven
children to mourn his loss, with many friends.
