Gustafson June 18, 2002 *********************************************************************** Colby Free Press-Tribune, November 18, 1971 PARROTT, Ella (BENDA) Ella Benda [Grisella "Ella" Benda], the daughter of John and Anna Benda, was born march 2, 1887, near Shelby, Neb., and departed this life at the Evergreen nursing home Nov. 11 at the age of 84 years, eight months and nine days. The family moved to Halford in 1905. She was united in marriage to Arch L. Parrott on June 1, 1911, and to this union were born three children. They lived in Colby until 1932 when they moved to a ranch south of Flagler, Colo. Her husband and her father passed away in 1955. She was a member of the Colby Rebekah lodge for about 65 years and was also a member of the Methodist church. She is survived by three children, Sanford of Azle, Texas, Gordon of Aurora, Colo., and Joyce of Dallas, Texas, two grandchildren, Sanford Jr. and John of New Orleans, two step-grandchildren, a brother, Oscar Benda of Colby, four sisters, Minnie Howard of Brighton Colo., Marie Anderson of Hugoton, Sophia McKinney of Sacramento, Calif., and Rose Ryan of Colby, a sister-in-law, Hazel Benda of Oberlin, a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a brother, Robert of Achilles, two sisters, Anna Neal of Cortez, Colo., and Theresia Kleeman of Loveland, Colo.
