SMITH, who had been quite low for several days, peacefully passed away at her home in the east part of the city. The funeral was held from the M.E. church on Sunday afternoon at three and the remains, followed by a large concourse of friends, were laid away in the Colby cemetery. Mrs. Smith was one of the early settlers here coming with her husband and family and settling on the homestead in the early days of pioneering here. Some years later they moved to Colby and have lived her since. Mrs. Smith was one of those kindly, clever women who endeared herself to a large circle of friends and because of her good heart and consideration for others never gave offense to any one. The last six or eight years her mind failed her and all during that time she was tenderly cared for and nursed by her husband, who has done little else but look after her wants. She was born in Ohio in 1845 and had she lived until June would have been seventy years of age. She lea! ves a husband and three sons and many friends who will cherish for her the ever green plant of sweet remembrance.
