The exact record of his birth was not at hand. He spent his young in early manhood in Illinois. At the age of 28 he came to Nebraska where he lived about two years when he came to Kansas. In Kansas he lived three or four years. From Kansas he went to California locating near Los Angeles. While there he was engaged as foreman of one of the sugar beet companies, and during the building of the Los Angeles Aqueduct he was also foreman of one division of workman. He was married in 1888. One son, Earl, was born to this union. The son is still living and is somewhere on the high seas not knowing of his father's death. About six months ago Mr. Young returnd to Kansas to visit his two brothers. When he first came he talked of returning to California, but finally decided to remain in Kansas. He had been in poor health for some time but not at any time was he confined to his bed. On Monday evening he ate his supper as usual and retired to the bed room. After sitting on the bed for a few minutes he seemed to be taken with pain in the region of the heart. He lay back gently with his feet still on the floor and was gone, not more than twenty minutes after supper. The Psalmist said: "In the morning they are like the grass which groweth up. In the morning it florisheth and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down and withereth." He leaves two brothers, Robert of Colby, and Charles with whom he was making his home and an only son, Earl. The bereaved have the sympathy of many friends and neighbors. The services were held at the home of Charles Young eleven and one-half miles northeast of Colby, and interment made in Colby cemetery.
