Peter CLOSE was born 23rd of January 1840, in Carroll county, Ohio, and died May 12th, 1906, at his home near Hollenberg, Kan., after a lingering illness of four years of paralysis. He was buried May 14th, under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge. He took his first degree in Free Masonary in the fall of 1865, at Delta, Ohio. He enlisted in Co. D, 44th Infantry, August 1, 1861. After the close of the war he came West, located with his family near Hollenberg 5th of February, 1877. He was instrumental in the organization of the first Sabbath School at Hollenberg. He was baptized and taken into the M.E. chruch abotu the 1st of December, 1905. His pastor, Rev. F. M. Potter of the M.E. church of Hollenberg, used for his text, Rev. 14:13. Card of Thanks.
