Coder, was born in Mahaska county, Iowa, April 4, 1860, and came to Washington county, Kansas, with his parents in 1869 who located five miles southwest of this city, where he died April 11, being 44 years old. He has always lived an exemplary life having the esteem of the community. He was a member of the M.E. church and during his continued illness expressed an abiding faith in God. He was a member of the M.W.of A. of this city and also a member of the I.O.O.F here and was buried under the auspices of the last named order. The funeral services were held at the Penwell school house and a fine discourse was preached by the Rev. Life of the M.E. pastor of Greenleaf. The deceased leaves an aged father and mother and other relatives also many friends, who sincerely sympathize with his father and mother in this bereavement in their declining years.
