All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ks/ksfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ken Wright wright@prestontel.com March 5, 2013, 7:29 pm Jackson Sentinel, July 2, 1920 Jackson Sentinel, July 2, 1920 Bertha Matilda Koch, daughter of Frederick and Bertha Koch, was born at the village of Berlin in the province of Schleswig-Holstein on December 26, 1871, and died at her home on June 24, 1920, aged 48 years, 6 months and 28 days. When two years of age, in company with her parents, she arrived on the shores of New Jersey. After remaining in New Jersey three years, the family moved to Hanover, Kansas, where she met and married Mr. John Ehlers. Mr. and Mrs. Ehlers, following their marriage lived at Hanover until fifteen years ago, when they moved to their, present home north of Elwood, where they have since resided. Mrs. Ehlers leaves, besides her husband, eleven children, Mrs. Bertha Luett, of Toronto, Iowa, Lizzie, Rosa, Delia, William, George, Edward, Helen, Arthur, Otto and Emil, besides five brothers and three sisters who now reside at Hanover, Kansas. Mrs. Ehlers was confirmed in the Lutheran church and will be remembered as a loving mother and a faithful wife. The family has the deepest sympathy of their neighbors and friends in this, their hour of sorrow. The funeral was held from the home on Friday, Rev. Snyder, officiating. The remains were taken to Hanover for final ceremonies.
