Mr. Fred GROTE of Palmer, died at a hopsital in Kansas City, Dec. 6th, the cause of his death being cancer, age 65 years. Mr. Grote was born at Rehburg, near Hanover, Germany, in 1840. According to the custom of the Lutheran Church, he was baptized in early infancy and received a thorough instruction in the doctrines of holy scripture and has been a faithful member of the Lutheran Church ever since. In 1870 he was married to Sophie LANGHAMMER, who is now left a widow. This union was blessed with six children. Immediately after his marriage he and his wife came to this country and lived several years at Hanover, this county, until later, they bought the farm near Palmer. Mr. Grote was an industrious farmer and peace-loving, honest man. His remains were brought home from Kanas City by his son, Fred Grote, and his son-in-law, August OHLDE, on Firday morning and were interred in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery, northeast of Palmer, on Sunday, Dec. 10th. The funeral was attended by a large numer of friends and was conducted by Rev. H. Hennings of Palmer. (Note: Rehburg, is a best guess.
