It is a painful task to record a list of crime, but last week Mr. Silas McINTOSH, an old and prosperous citizen, living 2 1/2 miles due south of Palmer, who had just completed a nice mansion, in which to spend the sundown of his life with his family, consisting of a wife and two blooming daughters just entering womanhood; gave a social ball party to the young friends in his neighborhood, to take place on Saturday evening the eleventh inst. The time arrived; the party gathered into the family mansion; all was joy; the smile of happy indications was on every cheek; the love glow beamed from eye to eye; the enrapturing strains of inspiring music filled the halls of pleasure with gayety and happiness. It is midnight; the scene has changed; the revelry become freighted with inebriation. In a moment the innocence of the hour is turned to anarchy and crime. Angry words ensue; blows are given, revolvers are brought into requistion, Henry HILSON receives an ugly flesh wound in the thigh from the pistol in the hands of McIntosh. Several of the sober young men at once come to the rescue, to endeaver to restore order and quiet; but a minute and a well aimed ball from an unknown hand crushed through the brain of McIntosh; he falls unconciious to the floor, and at 4 p.m. yesterday when your correspondent left his bed side he was gradually sinking into the embrace of death.--Daily Register. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/washington/obits/m/mcintosh150ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ksfiles/ File size: 2.1 Kb
