While he had been afflicted with the disease a couple of years, he was feeling as well as usual that morning and did his chores and ate a hearty breakfast before starting away. Samuel MONTGOMERY, son of Samuel and Jane MONTGOMERY, was born in Burmingham, England, Aug 3, 1867. Died at Greenleaf, Kansas, April 8, 1913. Age 45 years, 8 months, 5 days. He came to America in 1886. He was united in marriage to Miss Tamer A NELSON, December 23, 1896. To this union wee born four children, tow daughters,Alice C and Laura Jane, the latter passed away in infancy. Two sons Arnold H and Albert E. His wife, three children and two sisters, Mrs John HOWELL of Weldona, Colorado, and Mrs Sarah CHAMBERLAIN of Fairmont, Nebraska, are left to mourn the loss of a husband, father and brother. These relatives have the sympathy of the entire community. Mr Montgomery was baptised in the Episcopal church of England when a child. He renewed his covenant with God during the series of meetings held in the Untied Brethren church last December. he began attending services over a year ago, joining the Men's Bible class which he was the teacher at the time of his death. he was a member of the Teachers Training class and took great interest in the study of the Scriptures. he will be missed from the services and from the community but most of all by his loved ones. Mr MONTGOMERY was a good citizen, good neighbor and faithful in all he undertook. "What is death to him who meets it with an upright heart? A quiet haven, where his shattered bark. Harbors secure till the rough storm is passed." Funeral services were held in the United Brethren church Friday at 2 p.m conducted by Rev E E McAFERTY assisted by Dr E K BAILEY and C E THORP. Interment was made in the Mt James cemetery.
