A Faithful Christian Called Home. Last Saturday at 4:30 p.m. the soul of Mrs. Samuel MUSSER took its flight of the body which was so frail and racked with pain. For two weeks she had been a great sufferer from heart failure and a general breaking down of old age. She knew her time had come and was ready, bearing the pain with the fortitude of a Christian. She said she had no fear of death, that she was not alone, but that Jesus was with her. She prayed that she might die to put an end to her suffering. Sunday at 4 p.m. the funeral was conducted from the house of Dr. Henderson and a number of friends of the family gathered to pay their respects to the dead and console the bereaved husband and his sons. The boyd was laid to rest in the cemetery south of town. Mary A. PENWELL was born in Connersville, Ind., in 1825, and was educated in the district schools of the early day. In 1844, Nov. 21, she was united in marriage to Samuel MUSSER in Elkhart, Ind., and in 1854 they moved to Illinois. They lived there till 1865, when they moved to Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Musser had a desire to come west from Iowa so in 1874 moved to Washington, Kans., where they have made their home ever since, being among the early settlers here. To them only two children wer born, both now grown men, Clarence and Cassius, now running a store at Hollenberg. The death of Mrs. Musser is the first one in the Samuel Musser family, but it removes all but one of the Penwell family to which she belonged. Geo. Penwell who lives five miles southwest of here is her youngest brother and the only living member of that generation of Penwells. Mrs. Musser united with the M.E. church as early as 1847, and has been a faithful member ever since, and nearly all her life being an active Sunday School worker. The married life of this couple has covered a period of more than a half century, and has been one blissfull union, each enjoying the society of the other. Mr. Musser and his sons have the sympathy of a large circle of friends at this time of their sad hour of separation from wife and mother. Card of Thanks. We wish to express our sincere thanks to our kind friends who have assisted us of late in caring for our wife and mother.
