A sad accident occurred near DeWitt, on Sunday, May 14th in which the little
five year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ODGER lost her life. The father set fire
to a small strip of grass to please the children and returned to the house,
during his absence the fire burned slowly toward the little girl, who was
sitting by the roadside, and catching in her clothing, soon enveloped her in
flames. The little sufferer lingered until the following morning, when death put
an end to her agonies.
