All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ks/ksfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jim Laird jlaird@bellsouth.net July 2, 2006, 8:52 am The Washington Republican Washington County Friday March 11, 1898 Archibald PATTERSON was born of Scotch parentage at Glasgow, Scotland, on May 3rd, 1837, died at his home in Washington county, Kan., on March 2nd, 1898. When he was 7 years old he came with his parents to the United States at Buffalo, N.Y. In 1857 he removed to Sheboygan Co., Wis., and from there in 1861, he joined the Union Army enlisting in Co. B. 8th, Wis., Vol., Inf., for a period of 3 years. At the close to that period he re-enlisted as a veteran for the remainder of the war, served in the Western Division under Gen. Grant and participated in all the general engagements, including Vicksburg. He received an honorable discharge in July 1865 and returned to his home in Wisconsin. On Nov. 16th, 1865, he was united in marriage to Miss Catherine HAGERTY, in Sheboygan City. Of this union nine children have been born to them, seven of whom are living, the two youngest, James and Genevieve, having been born at his latest home in Washington Co. Kan., where he has resided for the! past 15 years. He was received into the Catholic church in 1877 and died in the hope of a blessed resurrection, his devoted wife and all his children being present at his beside during his last hours.
