Pittman. William Morgan PITTMAN, subject of this sketch, was born in Huntsville, Jackson Co., Alabama, March 2nd, 1836, and died at his home in Blue Rapids, March 4th, 1906, age 70 years. He made his home in Tennessee until the year of 1864. He enlisted in the 2nd United States Infantry at Rock Island, Ill., and served one year and was honorably discharged. He moved to Bond County, Ill., on the 23rd of April, 1866. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Mary Jane REED. To them were born five children, but only two are living,--Mrs. A. ANDERSON, of Blue Rapids, Kans., and James Arthur, of Hanover, Kans. In the year of 1867 they came to this state and settled on a farm near Hanover, Kans., and remained until 1899, then removed to Blue Rapids, Kan., shortly after his wife died. March 5, 1901, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Laura SAWYER of Washington, Kans.
