Pursley. Mr. J.F. PURSLEY was born July 8, 1842, in Franklin county, Mo., at which place he grew to manhood. At the age of 14 he confessed Christ as his Savior, and united with his church. Upon the outbreak of the Civil War he joined the Union forces, enlisting in Company K, 23, Missouri Infantry. At the expiration of this term, he enlisted again, but with Company I, 58 Illinois Infantry and served to the close of the war, receiving an honorable discharge. Soon after returning to his home he was united in marriage, Aug. 28, 1866, to Miss Viola A. BROWN. As a result of this union eleven children were born, nine of whom grew to manhood and womanhood. Eight of these children with their mother survive him. In 1869 Mr. Pursley moved to Washington county, Kansas, where he resided for over forty years. Finding farm life too strenous for his advancing years and failing health he purchased a home in our city last summer and resided there till the time of his death, Sep. 30, 1910. The funeral services were conducted from the Christian church by the minister, Mr. S.L. JACKSON. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/washington/obits/p/pursley114ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ksfiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
