Noah Spencer ROBBINS, was born in North Carolina, Jan. 8, 1848. He resided successfully in West Virginia, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa and Kansas. He and Miss Emma Jane TROTTER were married in Mahaska county, Iowa, Nov. 1, 1866. In 1870 they came to this county and took up the claim known as the Noah Robbins homestead. They lived on that farm until Mr. Robbins health failed, when they moved to the inland town of Enosdale. Mr. Robbins died Nov. 13, 1909, 61 year, 10 months and 5 days old. The surviving members of his family are his devoted wife, Mrs. Charley MERRITT, his daughter, and Chas. E. and Elmer, sons, who are worthy representatives of his name. Four children of Mr. Robbins are dead. Another old settler has passed on. His virtues and deeds of kindness are now deposited in the memory of those who knew him. His integrity and loyalty as a citizen, his generosity as a neighbor, his kindness and considerations as husband and father is to continue in the lives of those who knew him. He is said to have considered the fashion and pattern of the life that is to come and to have assured his immediate friends of his hope. The Odd Fellows attended his funeral in uniform and read their grave service. The sermon was preached by Rev. J.W.R. Clarady pastor of the Washington Methodist church. The Enosdale church was too small to accomodate the friends who braved the inclement weather to attend the service and honor the memory of Mr. Robbins. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/washington/obits/r/robbins1475gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ksfiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
