He found her ready and waiting to go. In fact, to her death was a relief from this world of suffering, and simply a passing to the better home above. While all that loving hands could do for her comfort, was done, nevertheless the closing years of her life were years of suffering, caused by the fact that she had been helpless for some time, and to this affliction was added that of a loss of sight. Narcissus SCOTT, daughter of Benjamin and Phoebe HULL, was born in Mercer county,m Pennsylvania, November 18, 1828, and was 84 years, 3 months, and 4 days old. She was one of a family of nine children, all having preceded her but two sisters, Mrs HARRAH of La Rue and Mrs EATON of Upper Sandusky, Ohio. On May 20, 1847, she was united in marriage to James SCOTT, and to this union eight children were born. They made their home at Marseilles, Ohio, until the year 1879, when they came to Kansas and located on a homestead north of Greenleaf. In this locality she has lived ever since. In 1890 her husband departed this life. Placing her trust in the Lord, Mrs SCOTT united with the Christian church when fourteen years of age, and during all the years that followed, her faith in her God has never wavered. She was always cheerful and spent her life ministering to others, and many there are who cll her blessed because of her kindness to them. A life of the fondest remembrances has passed before us. She was one of the best neighbors and friends we have ever known. Above all, she had the welfare of her children at heart. She is survived by a family of six children. They are Mrs J R PRUDEN of Washington, Kansas, B F SCOTT of Kenton, Ohio, J H SCOTT of Independence, Mo., H L SCOTT, Wm SCOTT, and C N SCOTT of Greenleaf. Impressive funeral services were conducted at the M E Church today, Thursday at 11 a.m. by Elder F H BENTLEY pastor of the Christian church, and a large audience collected to pay their last respects to one whom they so admired. The remains were interred by the side of her husband in Mt James cemetery. There were many beautiful flowers given by friends. All of the Business houses in town closed during the funeral hour. CARD OF THANKS To the neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted during the late illness, death and burial of our beloved mother, we wish to express our deepest gratitude.
