We regret that we are again under the necessity of announcing to the public, another horrible murder which occured in this city, Monday, about 3 p.m. The incidents in brief are as follows: Because of some disagreement over a doctor's bill Milton BONAR, a farmer of Coleman township, drew a revolver while in the Doctor's office and shot the Doctor in the abdomen, and also in the shoulder. Mr. Bonar gave himself up to the sheriff and is confined in jail awaiting preliminary trial which is set for Nov. 10. Dr. Smith was carried home, Dr's. EARNEST and JACOBS attended him, but Dr. PRIEST, of Concordia was summoned and arrived at 1 a.m.. Dr. H.D. SMITH, his son, who was in Lincoln, Neb., was wired and arrived at 2 a.m. An operation was performed, but the deceased expired at 3 a.m. The funeral services were held at the house conducted by Dr. Hageman, at 2 p.m, Wednesday. A large concourse of people attended, as the Doctor had lived and practiced medicine here for many years successfully. The remains were interred in the city cemetery. We leave the perpetrator of this horrible act in the hand sof the law, with no further comment than that he should be dealt with as his crime deserves. The family and relatives of the deceased have the sincere sympathy of the entire community which condems atrocities of this nature with our regard to the cause. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/washington/obits/s/smith1030ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ksfiles/ File size: 2.1 Kb
