F.W. STACKPOLE received a telegram Saturday night stating that his father died
in Thomaston, me., at 7 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Stackpole drove over to Greenleaf
Sunday morning and started east. No particulars are learned of the death, but
Mr. TOBEY says it must have been sudden and unexpected, for he received a letter
from him Friday evening written Tuesday and he was in his usual health. He was a
man past 80 years of age, a retired shipmaster and well liked by all who knew him.
