J. SWAN was born in Cuba, Kan., August 16, 1871, and died in Los Angeles, Calif., July 16, 1904. During his early life he lived in this city with his parents, but when he was about fourteen years of age the family moved to Haddam, and the deceased was employed in the bank at that place, afterwards for several years he was cashier in the Washington National Bank of this city. Three years since he severed his connection with the above named bank and became connected with the First National. His health failed and after struggling heroically with the disease consumption, he finally resigned as cashier a year ago and went west in hopes of regaining his health, but of no avail. He was married in this city, October 1899, to Miss Laura SOFIELD and one child, a boy was born to them. The wife and child, two brothers and one sister, J.B. Sofield, the father of the widow and all relatives have the sincere sympathies of many friends in the hour of affliction. The remains were brought from Los Angeles and the funeral was held Friday at the residence of this city.
