Alice Tobey Dead.
Brought Home From Rockford, Ill., Wednesday.

Last week we mentioned the sad accident of Alice TOBEY being burned at Rockford,
Ill., and this week the news is still sadder, announcing her death. Mrs. Tobey
was at her bedside, and had all the assurancce that her daughter was safely
recovering, but Saturday evening the physicians noticed signs of blodd
poisoning, and at eleven o'clock she passed without a pain or struggle. Mr.
Tobey received the telegram at 1 o'clock at night and left at once on the
excursion train to Leavenworth. On his arrival there he and his wife decided to
have the remains brought here for burial, and funeral services were held there.
The body arrived here Wednesday morning, was taken to the Tobey home, and at
four o'clock short services were held, conducted by Dr. Hageman. The body was
laid to rest in the cemetery south of town, encased in a metallic casket. 
Alice Tobey was an accomplished young girl, born in Maine in January 1878, came
to Kansas with her people thirteen years ago locating here. She was a favorite
in school here, also at college. Last year she graduated from the musical
department in the Rockford college, and this year would have graduated from the
college, had not the unfortunate accident occurred. Her people are stricken with
sorrow, but htey have the kind sympathy of Washington people and all who knew
them. In the Tobey family there remains two children, William, a young man
attending the state university at Lawrence and Lucy, a ten year old daughter at
home.
