Anna Veatch Dead.
Monday Alvin VEATCH received a telegram from his father in California stating
that Anna VEATCH had died Sunday night at 11 o'clock. Her body will be sent to
Morrowville and funeral held Sunday at 2 p.m. and the remains interred in the
Mount Pleasant cemetery beside that of her brother Sherman, who died March 11,
1895, in Arizona.
Obituary.
Anna Veatch was born Oct. 25, 1866 in Davis county, Iowa, and moved to Kansas
with her parents in 1871. She was schooled in Morrill, Brown county, and taught
school in this county. Her health was not good, having throat and lung trouble,
in 1884 she went to California for her health. The cllimate of that state
improved her and she made several visits back to Kansas. She was an accomplished
young lady and corresponded for this paper, writing several interesting letters
from California.
Just before she left for California she was converted in a series of meetings
held in Morrowville in the Christian church, conducted by S.F. NESBIT. She died
in the faith of a Christian. Two weeks before her death she sent for her father
who left immediately for California, to find she was very ill of typhoid fever.
We learn the fever was broken and that death was the result of grip.
There were five children in the Veatch family, four boys and one girl, Anna. Not
but two years ago Sherman Veatch died in Arizona, and his death was a sad blow
to the family. This death is equally as sad and the bereaved family have the
sympathy of a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
