              THE WOOL CLIP
    Woodson is the banner sheep couonty in Southern
Kansas, and our wool cli this season will aggregate
our 70,000 pounds. The greatest average weight of
clip is that of Mr. Godfrey Weide's, on Turkey
Creek. Mr. Weide sheared 800 sheep, aggregating
8,900 pounds of wool, being an average of over 11
pounds to the fleee Carl Weide's clip averaged 9 1/2
pounds and Donnerberg's the same. The following
table of the clip this season will give some idea
of the growth of the wool business in this county:

The above aggregates about 48,000 pounds, Depew and
Clark Stewart bought about 6,000, 3,000 of which
is not enumerated above. We have no returns whatever
from Eminence and Perry townships, nor from any of 
the small growers on Owl and Cherry Creeks, and we
thing we are safe in presuming that the entire clip
of the county will reach, 70,000 pounds. About 
24,000 pounds of this wool was shipped from Burlington,
and will probably be included in the Coffey county
returns. Mr. Deggenhart, of Humboldt, has bought
about 30,000 pounds here. The price paid has varied
from 19 1/2 to 20 1/2 cents per pound.
