She united with the Episcopal church when quite young. After coming to Coffey county, there being no Episcopal church where she could attend, she united with the M. E. church, of which she was a member until her death. She was married to P. F. Jenkins at Northfield, Minn., in 1863. They moved in 1879 to Kansas, where she lived, except a few months that she lived in Kansas City, Mo. She came back to Kansas last November to spend the winter months with her daughter, Mrs. George Naylor, at whose home she died at 11 o'clock the night of March 21, 1905. She was the mother of nine children of whom seven survive. Mrs. Jaggers, Mrs. Naylor, Frank Jenkins and Mrs. John Mozingo, live in Coffey couonty and Woodson counties. The three younger children, Ella, Annie and Herman Jenkins, live in Kansas City, Mo. All of them were with her at the end. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Triple Tie and Relief Corps of Burlington. She was always a loving and kind wife and mother, and lived a Christian life to the end, and although a sufferer for years, it was endured with patience. Her last thoughts were of others. She was ready and willing togo. A few days before she died she called the children and grandchildren to her bedside, and for each one she had a parting work of counsel and love. While she has gone to be with loved ones, there is an aching void in the hearts that are left that nothing can ever fill. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the M. E. church in charge of Rev. I. R. Prugh of the Presbyterian church, who acted in the absence of Rev. A. S. Freed. The beautiful burial service of the Eastern Star was used. A male quartet furnished the music. Woodson County Advocate Mar 31, 1905 pg 1 Duck Creek Mrs. Jenkins died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Geo.
