          MERRILL
   At the home of her son, Daniel Merrill,
Grandma Merrill. Sarah Elizabeth Bebee was
born in Tennessee on Nov. 21, 1844, and died
Feb. 22, 1910 age 65 years 2 months and 29
days. The event of her death closed a long,
useful and saintly life. To know "Grandma" 
was to love her. She was married in 1867
to Israel Merrill. To this union wee born
six sons, one having died in infancy--five
sons survive her, Will and Daniel of Vernon,
Jessee of Shawnee, Okla., Chas. of Weir City
and Israel of Ceres, Ca. All were with her at
the last except Israel, and he was laid out
on account of a storm in the mountains. He
arrived, however, for the last sad rites. She
with her husband and family came to Kansas
39 years ago, and has resided in Woodson 
county most of that time. Her husband passed
away 3 years ago since that time she has lived
with her son Daniel. The funeral was held at
Wesley Chapel Friday, Feb. 25. The remains 
were laid to rest in the Gridley cemetery. 
Services were conducted by Rev. Chas. M.
Hodgson, pastor. She leaves, beside her own
family, a host of friends to mourn her loss, 
but rejoice in the knowledge that she has
gone to live in a better world than this.
