The following brief memorial notice of deceased we take from the Argus: "Mrs. Angeline Smith, nee Ackley, was born in Ohio, May 10, 1823; was married to Abram Smith, ex-sheriff of Woodson county, July 10, 1841, and accompanied her husband to Kansas in the early days, being one of the first settlers of this county. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. I. L. Spencer, at the home of the deceased, on the 25th inst., at 10:30 a.m. The remains were buried in Yates Center Cemetery, being the first interment in that cemetery. She professed faith in Christ in youth and joined the M. E. church, of which she afterwards lived a consistent member. She leaves a husband and nine children to mourn her absence. We sincerely sympathise with the sorrowing family.
