Taylor, son of J. E. and Laura Taylor, Oct. 21, 1910, at the home of W. A. Taylor Yates Center, Kansas, aged 18 years, 4 months, and 9 days. The bright young life of Perrine E. Taylor was closed late Friday morning. While he had been very low for several days, his friends hardly expected that the end was so near. He came here with his parents when he was about 5 years of age and remained here until February 1910, when he went to Beamont, Texas, with his mother. Shortly after arriving there he was taken with malaria and suffered with that disease for several months and it left him in such a weakened condition that he returned here in July in hopes to regain his former health, but he gradually grew weaker until his death. His mother returned from Texas and was constantly at his bedside until his death. Every thing in the way of medical aid was furnished but only temporary relief was obtained. Perrine grew to manhood in this city and was beloved by all who knew him. He was a young man of fine character, excellent habits and of bright intellect and had he lived would have made a success in life. He had a lovable disposition, was always pleasant and kind and during his last sickness his pleasant smile to all inquiring friends will long be remembered. He was educated in the schools of Yates Center and was always popular with the young peope of his class. Funeral services were held at the home of W. A. Taylor on Sunday, October 23, 1910, and the remains taken to Toronto, Kansas, for burial. A large number of people accompanied the remains to Toronto. The devoted mother and relatives have the sympathy of the entire community. ------------- We wish to express our heartfelt thanks for the kindness shown us by our friends in Toronto in the hour of our bereavement. Mrs. Laura E. Taylor, W. P. Taylor and family, W. A. Taylor and Family, R. L. Maxson and Family, Mrs. M. M. Buck. [The following had been printed about Perrine Taylor's dog when it died and I couldn't resist transcribing and including it here.] The Yates Center News Fri Aug 23, 1901 pg 5 In Memoriam (Died, of poison, on the night of August 19th, 1901 Prince Taylor, aged two years, eight months and twenty-two days. He weighed 182 pounds and was the best dog that ever chased a cat or took part in a canine mix-up on the street. He had some of the frailties peculiar too his race, but he held the edge on some of the human race in that he was always true to his best friends. And he is sincerely mourned for by his boy companion, little Perrine Taylor. He was an honest mastiff dog And wore a yellow coat. He loved to chase the stray town hog And eke the billy goat. He was a good dog in a scrap And scars of battle wore, But like a decent, modest chap His honors meek he bore. If dogs perchance, have any souls, And for them future bliss, Maybe in happiness he rolls In a world more kind than this. Where he for aye will laugh his grace, O'er bones and things to eat, Where million cats there are to chase down the long Dog-street. Where he will need to wear no tag For fear of marshal's gun, But unafraid his tail can wag Through ages of dog-fun. submitter is not related and has no further information File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/woodson/obits/t/taylor2697gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ksfiles/ File size: 4.4 Kb
